Hi Guys. After reading your comic it is clear that you took note of the Proppian characters discussed in class. I like the modern day fairytale vibe and the fact that it centres around something that we can all relate to as University students. Cinderella plays the role of the princess whilst the lecturer in this case is the villain – which is quite humorous since as students we always think that they are out to get us. It was however very difficult to view your story and make sense of it because of the blurry photo’s and text fonts that are difficult to read. I also think that the disruption could have been more obvious than a simple distraction that is brought about by “prince charming”. Your ending is a bit clichéd but it works according to Todorov’s narrative model and a happy ending is created.

I recently saw a photo comic on the blog balancing beams entitled "Cinderella at Rhodes". I found it interesting that they told their readers who their villain and hero were. Although initially I thought this was a bad idea as it should be something subtle that your readers can pick up on without you telling them, it in fact made me think about the different Proppian roles that were granted to their characters in a more in depth manner. It made me wonder wether the student really is the victim of the story. She is the one who has rebelled against the system that is attempting to grant her an education and could therefore lose her DP as a consequence. The "prince charming" could in fact be the villain's sidekick aiding Cinderella's procrastination. The lecturer could be the betrayed victim. This comic shows how much stories can be constructed to show a certain side of the story.

Thanks for your comments guys. The reason that we announced who our hero and villain were was because it was meant to be melodramatic and over emphasised. I do get where you are coming from though. I do not understand why the photos and text are blurry, it must have something to do with the way we uploaded etc. The ending was cliched because fairytales are overly cliche and generally have happy endings.
